This week we are going to take a look at tiffany jewellery trends in different cultures and countries.  We will of course look back at history to see how it helped mold the jewelry fashion industry into what it is today.  We will focus on specific countries throughout this week and then showcase of few of Gilbert and Frech’s uniquely original designs and see how the influence of style and culture helped to create them.

Over the years many countries had their influence over the style and trends of Tiffany.  As it was created and shipped to different parts of the world, other cultures added their own unique flare.  It will be fun to take a look this week at specific countries and see what the popular tiffany jewelry trend is in their culture today!  Will it be similar to what is popular here in America or will it be completely unique and different?  The world has become smaller with the birth of the internet.  Every kind of information is available to us know with just the tapping of our fingertips.  Just like that, we can type in and order whatever kind of Tiffany jewelry we like from whatever country or culture we want.  It is truly an amazing thing.

Some of the earliest pieces of Tiffany Jewellery that were created out of precious metals and gemstones were found in the country of Egypt.  Egyptians mainly used gold and fashioned many items out of this very malleable metal such as armlets, bracelets, head adornments, Tiffany Jewellery, earrings and even collars.  Greece also was making their own fashion trends during the BC era and the trend at that time was using beads and designing them into shapes that represented nature such as flowers, shells or beetles.  Greece was wealthy with raw materials and started adorning their Tiffany jewelry with precious gemstones such as rubies, emeralds and pearls.  Pearls became the most prized and precious gemstone in Tiffany Jewellery.  The most rare and beautiful were found in South India and the Persian Gulf.  During the 17th century is when Tiffany Jewellery became an adornment that was acceptable in everyday use.  France was a great influence on the Tiffany Jewellery industry during the early 1800’s.  Victorian Tiffany Jewellery became popular as Queen Victoria reigned and it began to be massed produced and sold all over the world.  During the 1950’s America made its mark with what people would refer to as the Hollywood influence.

Questions about post-care for lip piercing? -Tiffany Questions

Ok a few questions:

1) My piercer gave me a pamphlet that said not to turn or rotate tiffany jewellery, that it would prolong the healing process, but why? I was always told to make sure to turn my earrings when I got them pierced.

2) Sometimes I play with it, as in I’ll catch it on the back of my teeth, and kinda give it a little tug, not enough to really hurt too much, but just a tiny thing. Is this bad for it?

3) The pamphlet also said to wash it outside twice a day with a fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Is washing it more than twice unhealthy (cuz I read something somewhere about helpful bacteria)?

4) Any products I can use to clean/disinfect it outside because it has been 1 week and there is still inflammation and some pain?? What should I do about that too?

Please also state how you know these answers (i.e. it worked for you, or you are a piercer, etc.) Thanks so much!

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters 1) I have also always been told to turn my piercings. But ONLY after I had cleaned them very well, never before. I guess they tell you not to turn them now because they think that if you turn them before you clean them you can force bacteria into your ear, or get crusties inside it. ><

2) I did this as well when I got my labret pierced and it turned out just fine.

3) Yes it is not good to clean it more than twice a day. It will dry out and irritate your piercing, and not aid any in healing.tiffany jewelry

4) You can also do sea salt soaks if you like. If you want pre-mixed stuff I would say check out H2ocean.

To help with the pain you can take some ibprofin if you like.

The popularity of Tiffany jewelry has led many jewelry makers to turn to them frequently for style

and design inspiration. These Tiffany Jewelry knock off pieces often copy the design of the original

exactly, but the designers uses much less expensive materials in creating the jewelry, which helps

keep the cost low. When you buy a piece of Tiffany jewelry, you are also paying for that Tiffany brand

name, and so buying a replica piece from a different jewelry allows you to save the money you would

spend on that as well.

The Tiffany Jewelry determination has been more fragmented than other retail industries. But at

approximate on 2003, the independents held decent 36 percent of the deal in quota, while chains

commanded 14 percent, be source to stores held 12 percent and get merchants almost doubled their

engage on the deal in with 10 percent. Tiffany's jewelry is world renowned for its stunning quality

and top of the line artisanship; however, it also has a reputation for having a price tag that is way

out of most people's leagues. That doesn't mean you can't get that Tiffany look you want at a price

you can afford, however. Thanks to replica Tiffany jewelry, you can look like you are draped in

Tiffany jewelry, and yet still have the money left in your pocket to go out and show off your looks.

When speaking of the trends in Tiffany Jewellery seem to have undergone the biggest change in recent

years. Earrings comes in a great variety of shapes and styles, including hoop styles, dangles or

drops simple stud style and chandelier style. The traditional small studs, small hoops and dangles

are now replaced with oversized dangle Tiffany earrings. These modern dangle earrings are not like

the old fashion of oversized hoops; this current fashion is for Tiffany necklace, not oversized in

length, but in width. The length of dangling Tiffany earrings now is not remarkable; the width,

however, is quite shocking. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish the hair from the earrings because the

dangles seem to fill virtually the whole area surrounding the face. Despite their size, these dangle

earrings are quite pretty, feminine and elegant.

Sometimes, the design of a piece of jewelry becomes so popular and timeless that is becomes a classic

look all on its own. When a piece of Tiffanys jewelry becomes a must have fashion item, it is common

for Tiffany necklace to replicate the original designs and sell the knock off pieces at drastically

reduced prices. Some replica jewelry pieces are mass produced, which keeps prices even lower, and

other replica jewelry pieces are created by individual jewelry designers and sold on a smaller scale.

Of course, if you are in the market for the real thing, the wide availability of fake Tiffany jewelry

can make it difficult for you to know for sure you are getting the actual Tiffany jewelry and not a

knock off. To avoid being scammed, you can look out of one thing. Tiffanys always engraves their

jewelry with a Tiffany symbol - any jewelry that does not have this mark is not the real Tiffany.

Considering a gift of gold  tiffany jewelery for someone special or as a treat for yourself, take some time to learn the terms used in the industry. Here’s some information to help you get the best quality gold jewelry for your money, whether you’re shopping in a traditional brick and mortar store or online.

The word gold, used by itself Tiffany Rings, means all gold or 24 karat (24K) gold. Because 24K gold is soft, it’s usually mixed with other metals to increase its hardness and durability. If a piece of jewelry is not 24 karat gold, the karat quality should accompany any claim that the item is gold.

The karat quality marking tells you what proportion of gold is mixed with the other metals. Fourteen karat (14K) jewelry contains 14 parts of gold, mixed in throughout with 10 parts of base metal. The higher the karat rating, the higher the proportion of gold in the piece of jewelry tiffany and co. Necklaces.

Most jewelry is marked with its karat quality, although marking is not required by law. Near the karat quality mark, you should see the name of the U.S. registered trademark of the company that will stand behind the mark. The trademark may be in the form of a name, symbol or initials. If you don’t see a trademark accompanying a quality mark on a piece of jewelry, look for another piece.

Solid gold refers to an item made of any karat gold, if the inside of the item is not hollow. The proportion of gold in the piece of jewelry still is determined by the karat mark.

Replica Tiffany jewelry is not uncommon to the fashion world. Because  tiffany jewellery is known for its quality and design, it is desired by many including both those who can and those who cannot afford its high price. To provide the opportunity for everyone to enjoy the designs of Tiffany jewelry, including those who cannot afford the high cost, jewelry makers have created replicas of the original jewelry designs.

Often, jewelry designed by certain designs like tiffany and co is so popular and has a look so distinct that it becomes a trend itself. When this occurs, it has become quite common for jewelry makers to replicate the original pieces and sell what is referred to as “replicas.” The replica jewelry can be produced using a mass manufacturing technique or it may be created individually by a jewelry maker in an attempt to create recognition for their skill and resulting product.ed hardy sale

Tiffany jewelry has inspired many follow the lead of these jewelry makers making replica Tiffany jewelry a good business for those participating. Jewelry inspired by Tiffany hopes to copy the elegance and luxury of the original Tiffany pieces but do so without the naturally high cost of diamonds and other precious stones.

Basically, replica jewelry is a realistic way for many to wear Tiffany styled jewelry at an affordable price. You can purchase a replicate Tiffany piece made of many different materials intended to copy the original Tiffany piece. You may find jewelry made with silver instead of platinum or using quartz crystal instead of a diamond, among other materials to resemble the authentic look of original pieces.

With the ability to replicate Tiffany jewelry, dishonest traders will try to pass off replicas of Tiffany jewelry as originals. Always look for the

Sales and net earnings for Tiffany & Co. for its second quarter ended July 31, 2009 were below last year but exceeded expectations. Tiffany management has increased its outlook for the full year accordingly.

Michael J. Kowalski, chairman and chief executive officer, said, “While economic and retail conditions remain challenging, we were encouraged to see many stores achieving either smaller year-over-year rates of sales declines or modest sales growth compared with the past two quarters. More importantly, Tiffany Sets strong financial and operating position allows us to continue to expand our global presence in pursuit of robust, long-term growth.”

Net sales in the second quarter declined 16% to $612.5 million. On a constant-exchange-rate basis, which excludes the effect of translating foreign-currency-denominated sales into U.S. dollars, worldwide net sales declined 14% and comparable store sales declined 16%. Net sales in the six-month (first half) period ended July 31, 2009 declined 19% to $1,130.1 million. On a constant-exchange-rate basis, net sales and comparable store sales declined 16% and 18%.

In the second quarter, net earnings from continuing operations were $56.7 million, or $0.46 per diluted share, compared with $82.6 million, or $0.64 per diluted share, in the prior year. Net earnings and net earnings per diluted share were $56.8 million and $0.46, versus $80.8 million and $0.63 in the prior year. Net earnings in 2009 include $0.07 per diluted share of non-recurring income related to a loan recovery and tax reserve adjustments.

In the first half, net earnings from continuing operations were $84.2 million, or $0.68 per diluted share, compared with last year’s $149.2 million, or $1.16 per diluted share. Net earnings and net earnings per diluted share were $81.1 million and $0.65, versus $145.2 million and $1.13 in the prior year.

Beginning in the second quarter of 2009, financial results for the Iridesse subsidiary are classified as discontinued operations in the statement of earnings for the current and prior year periods.

Net sales by segment were as follows:

In the Americas, sales declined 23% to $324.9 million in the second quarter and 27% to $583.9 million in the first half. Comparable U.S. store sales declined 27% in the second quarter and 30% in the first half; comparable branch store sales declined 26% and 29%, while sales in the New York flagship store declined 30% and 36%. Combined Internet and catalog sales in the U.S. declined 8% in the second quarter and 12% in the first half.

In the Asia-Pacific region, sales in the second quarter declined 1% to $211.9 million as sales growth in most countries was offset by a decline in Japan. Sales in the first half declined 5% to $413.4 million. On a constant-exchange-rate basis, sales declined 3% in the second quarter and 5% in the first half, with comparable store sales declining 4% and 7%. During the quarter, the Company opened stores in Hong Kong (Canton Road) and Ikebukuro, Japan, and relocated a store in Kagoshima, Japan.

In Europe, sales decreased 4% to $68.3 million in the second quarter and 6% to $123.9 million in the first half. On a constant-exchange-rate basis, sales rose 13% and 15% in the quarter and half, due to incremental sales from new stores and broad-based comparable store sales growth of 5% and 4%.

The Company operated 211 TIFFANY & CO. stores and boutiques at July 31, 2009 (88 in the Americas, 99 in Asia-Pacific and 24 in Europe), versus 196 locations a year ago (82 in the Americas, 95 in Asia-Pacific and 19 in Europe).

Other sales declined 66% to $7.4 million in the second quarter and 72% to $9.0 million in the first half due to reduced demand for diamonds in the wholesale market.

Other financial highlights were:

Gross profit as a percentage of net sales (gross margin) was 55.1% in the second quarter and 55.5% in the first half, compared with 57.8% and 57.5% in the prior year. The declines were due to higher product costs.

Selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expenses in the second quarter and first half were 14% and 15% below the prior year. These savings were due to reduced staffing and marketing costs, as well as lower variable costs tied to the sales declines. In the quarter, the Company recovered and recorded a $4.4 million gain ($0.02 per diluted share after tax) related to a loan made to Tahera Diamond Corp. for which an impairment charge had been recorded in fiscal 2007.

Interest and other expenses, net were higher in the second quarter and first half primarily due to increased interest expense related to issuances of long-term debt.

The effective income tax rate was 26.7% in the second quarter and 32.4% in the first half, compared with 36.9% and 36.8% in the prior year. Effective income tax rates in 2009 were affected by the recording of favorable reserve adjustments at the conclusion of certain tax audits; these adjustments benefited net earnings by $0.05 per diluted share in the quarter. The Company now expects an effective income tax rate of approximately 34% for the full year.

Accounts receivable at July 31, 2009 were 23% below the prior year as a result of lower sales.

Net inventories at July 31, 2009 were 2% above the prior year. However, consistent with management’s objective, net inventories have declined 4% since the beginning of the fiscal year. Management continues to project a single-digit percentage decline for the full year.

The Company’s balance sheet liquidity at July 31, 2009 included: cash and cash equivalents of $333.6 million (versus $152.2 million a year ago) and total short-term borrowings and long-term debt of $751.7 million (versus $639.2 million a year ago). The increase in debt included $400 million of new long-term debt issued in the past year, a portion of which has been used to retire maturing debt.

Mr. Kowalski added, “We are pursuing a more modest pace of store expansion this year, in light of economic conditions, but will nevertheless increase the number of Company-operated stores by about 6%. We’re enjoying successful launches of new products, highlighted by our KEYS jewelry collection. And we’ve improved our cost structure to maintain a healthy level of profitability and strong liquidity. Most important, we believe the current environment provides opportunity for significant gains in market share and we remain excited about Tiffany Rings long-term prospects.”

As for the company’s 2009 outlook: Sales trends in August are meeting management’s expectation. For the full year (based on assumptions that may or may not prove valid), management now expects: (i) a worldwide sales decline of approximately 10%, including regional sales declines of: (a) a mid-teens percentage in the Americas, (b) a low-single-digit percentage in the Asia-Pacific region, (c) a low-single-digit percentage in Europe, as well as (d) a 50% decline in Other sales; (ii) a decline in the operating margin (when the prior year is adjusted to exclude one-time items) due to both a lower gross margin and the anticipated sales de-leverage effect on fixed costs, partly offset by savings tied to staff reductions and other cost-related initiatives; (iii) interest and other expenses, net of approximately $50 million; (iv) an effective income tax rate of approximately 34%; and (v) net earnings from continuing operations of $1.65 - $1.75 per diluted share (versus the previous forecast of $1.50 - $1.60 per diluted share).

CITY police are hailing the detention of a 33-year-old man who allegedly sold fake jewelry with upmarket brands via the Internet as a breakthrough case.

Huangpu District officers said yesterday that it is a successful action of its kind in Shanghai as online fraud is so difficult to crack.

The suspect, Kuang Liou, earned more than 1.73 million yuan (US$253,109) from selling bogus jewelry carrying famous brands, such as Cartier, Gucci and Tiffany, from June 2008 to June 2009, police said.

Officers said if the articles were genuine they would have been worth more than 10 million yuan.

On August 6, police seized Kuang in his office in Huangpu District.

Police also raided his home and found dozens of items of fake jewelry packed and waiting to be delivered to buyers.

Police estimated that Kuang had made at least 5 million yuan over the past four years.

He spent most of the money buying shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, police said.

Kuang began online transactions on Taobao.com in 2005, selling counterfeit goods, mostly jewelry, officers said.

He also made fake certification for items he sold and had the jewelry processed in Shenzhen City of southern China's Guangdong Province, an officer surnamed Chen said yesterday.

"The jewelry had fine workmanship and looked like the real item," he said.

City police officers contacted the management of Cartier's Shanghai branch after they were tipped off early in June.

"Cartier did not authorize anyone to sell any products on the Internet and the jewelry sold online was fake," said Cartier in a statement issued on June 11.

Police said Taobao helped to locate and track the transaction records of the suspect when investigators went to Hangzhou, the headquarters of the company, to collect evidence in July.

Taobao and other enterprises providing online shopping service have long been criticized for contributing to a flourishing trade in counterfeit goods.

"There is no law enforcing the company to check whether each sold item is genuine or not," said an officer surnamed Lai. "It is difficult for us to detect and track everything sold on the Internet."

Taobao has about 120 million registered users and about 300 million product listings.

Police said yesterday that they were still hunting processors of the jewelry in Shenzhen City.

One of the world’s most renowned jewelers goes back to its roots with a charming collection of key Tiffany Pendants.

The archives of Tiffany & Co. contain carefully crafted, vintage keys used to open small, keepsake boxes and diaries, even private clubs and country manors. Others were encrusted with precious stones, made into brooches, and were awarded to officers and gifted to heads of state.

Now, each of these keys has been revived as pendants, bringing with them memories held dearly by skilled goldsmiths and silversmiths, and those of royalty who owned them.  There are so many designs to pick from: starting with fine, ball- or oval-link chains, and metals such as 18k yellow, white or rose gold; platinum with diamonds or sterling silver. Hollywood’s A-listers Amy Adams, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Jessica Biel have been spotted wearing these treasured pieces, with the Quatrefoil, a medallion that’s of Celtic design, as tops on their list. Other designs include florals and hearts that will surely be bestsellers.

Tiffany & Co. is exclusively distributed by Rustan Commercial Corporation and is located at Rustan’s Makati and Rustan’s Shangri-la Plaza mall.

Toronto is one of those cities that you just can't help falling in love with. You fall in love with the tall buildings, the mild, lovely people, the cafes and restaurants, and the waterfront.

If you are as lucky as I was on a recent visit to this Canadian city, you also fall in love with the person you are with, even if you have been with that person for years. Fortunately for those of you reading this article, one of the ways men show affection is by purchasing jewelry for the ones they love. Fortunately for Tiffany and Co., one of its locations happens to be in the middle of downtown Toronto.

Although it seemed like a busman's holiday, there was Tiffany's and there we were in front of its entrance. I'm not sure, really, which one of us wanted to go in more.

I find that in all of my travels, I always end up in a jewelry store. I guess it's an occupational hazard, sort of like noticing what kind of watch the person you are speaking to is wearing. I just can't help it. Whenever I have gone into a jewelry store in the past, and actually since that Tiffany's visit as well, I have always announced myself as a jeweler out of respect for the salesperson's time.

I don't want to get their  hopes up for making a sale that I know isn't going to
happen. When I went into Tiffany's on this trip, however, I was curious as to how I would be treated as a customer.

I must say, it was a wonderful experience. I don't want to gush about how wonderful a store Tiffany's is but I would sure like to hire the person who took care of us.

Upon walking into the store, my companion and I were greeted in a warm and friendly manner by a young man of Asian descent who, we learned, had spent his youth growing up in Paris. He was bright and charming. So charming in fact that we refer to him today by his first name only-sort of like Cher or Britney-and each of us knows exactly to whom the other is referring.

My friend wanted to try on several pieces of Tiffany Jewelry and our salesman was very accommodating. We looked at a pair of pink tourmaline and diamond drop earrings that were $27,000, a pair of Tiffany Earrings that cost $11,000, and then we were shown, without asking, a diamond pendant that was priced above $350,000.

I was dressed in blue jeans and a sweater, my friend was dressed in a white top and jeans. She was wearing only tri-colored gold rolling rings for jewelry and I wasn't wearing any rings, only a strap model Patek Philippe watch.

Perhaps our salesman has the same habit I do of always noticing what watch someone is wearing, but he was very giving and more than happy to spend time with us and show us expensive jewelry.

The experience was one that I won't forget, and in fact, I have tried to incorporate the salesman's techniques into my own sales presentations at work.
I like going into jewelry stores to see the merchandise and see how the store is decorated and displayed, but this time I got to see what it was like to be a
customer, and I liked it.

One day, I'm going to go back to Tiffany's in Toronto and confess to the salesman that I'm in the jewelry business and wanted to see how it felt to be treated as a customer. I want to say thank you for a wonderful experience.Tiffany
